Microsoft renamed Power Virtual Agents to Copilot Studio in 2023, and significantly expanded its capabilities — adding generative AI answers grounded on your own content (via Azure OpenAI), custom AI plugins, and advanced orchestration. Copilot Studio is the current product name and what we build all new bots on. It encompasses all Power Virtual Agents features plus the new generative AI capabilities. If you have existing Power Virtual Agents bots, we can migrate and upgrade them to Copilot Studio as well.
Yes — Copilot Studio supports multiple languages in the same bot. We configure bots for Hindi and English as standard for India deployments, with auto-detection of the user's language. Regional language support (Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi) is available for generative AI-powered responses as these leverage Azure OpenAI's multilingual capabilities. Pre-built topic responses can also be authored in regional languages. Our India deployments always include at least Hindi + English configuration.
Copilot Studio integrates with WhatsApp via the WhatsApp Business API through Azure Communication Services or third-party providers like Twilio and Infobip. The same bot topics and generative AI responses work across web and WhatsApp — users get a consistent experience. For India deployments we typically recommend WhatsApp as the primary external channel (500M Indian users), website widget as secondary, and Teams tab for internal employee bots. WhatsApp Business API requires a verified Business Account and approved message templates, which we help set up.
There are two layers of fallback: (1) Generative AI fallback — before escalating, the bot tries to answer using Azure OpenAI grounded on your knowledge base, so it can answer questions no topic was pre-built for; (2) Human escalation — if the bot cannot resolve, it hands off to a live agent in D365 Customer Service omnichannel or Microsoft Teams, with full conversation history and auto-detected sentiment score so agents have complete context. We also capture every unanswered question in a Power BI report so we can add new topics in the monthly optimisation sprint.
Yes — we configure every bot with DPDP Act compliance in mind: no PII is stored in Copilot Studio conversation logs beyond the session (configurable); authenticated sessions use Entra ID so user data is retrieved from existing systems rather than collected in the bot; consent flows can be implemented at bot entry for new data collection; and all data flows via Microsoft's Azure infrastructure in India data centres. We provide a data flow diagram for each bot as part of our DPDP compliance documentation delivered at handover.
