Teams deployment is optional and additive — for organisations already using Teams, the app is pinned as a personal app in the Teams sidebar for convenience. Employees without Teams access use the app via web browser or the iOS/Android app directly. We recommend Teams deployment for organisations with high Teams adoption, and standalone browser/mobile for manufacturing or field-heavy workforces where Teams isn't widely used.
Yes — the app is fully brandable: organisation logo, primary and secondary colours, banner images, and app name. Content categories (departments, topics, locations) are configurable in the app admin panel — no code changes required. New content types (e.g., a "Safety Alerts" channel or "Innovation Ideas" submission form) can be added using Power Apps low-code customisation. SchwettmannTech applies your branding and configures your content categories during Week 1 of implementation.
The app syncs employee records from Dynamics 365 HR (or any HR system that can push data to Dataverse) — including department, grade, location, job title, and manager. Content authors can target announcements to specific segments: "All Manufacturing employees in Pune" or "All Grade 5+ managers." New joiner records in D365 HR automatically trigger the onboarding content sequence in the app. The sync runs every 15 minutes for near-real-time accuracy. For organisations without D365 HR, we sync from Azure AD user attributes or a SharePoint employee list.
Anonymous survey responses are stored without linking to individual employee IDs — only aggregate data and segment-level (department, grade, location) breakdowns are accessible to HR. Individual response data is never exposed in HR dashboards or to managers. For non-anonymous surveys (e.g., post-training feedback), responses are stored in Dataverse with employee ID but accessible only to authorised HR roles via D365 security roles. All data resides in Azure India regions. Survey data retention is configurable — we recommend 24-month retention aligned with annual performance cycle requirements.
The Employee Communication App requires minimal ongoing technical maintenance — Power Apps and Teams handle security patching and infrastructure.
